Board of Directors
Montessori School Limited is incorporated as a company limited by guarantee. The Directors are elected by the members of the parent body at the Annual General Meeting in May each year. The composition of the Board includes up to seven elected Directors (by the members) and can also include two co-opted positions, which are appointed by the elected Directors.
Elected Directors hold office for a term of two years, upon which they can re-stand for a further two year term, after which they are required to step down. Co-opted Directors hold a one year term on appointment by the elected directors, after which time they may be re-appointed. The Board of Directors is required to meet ten times per annum and these meetings are held on school premises.
To be nominated for a Director position you must be in possession of a Blue Card, which is issued by Blue Card Services. This process can take some time to complete so if you are considering nomination then please apply for your Blue Card early. The Blue Card is issued free of charge for volunteers and forms can be obtained from the School Office.
The Board holds legal responsibility for the school and has ultimate control over school governance. The Principal is responsible for the day-to-day operational running of the school.

Parents and Friends Association
The Brisbane Montessori Parents and Friends Association wishes to extend to you a very warm welcome. We feel confident that your children will love their time at Brisbane Montessori as much as our children do.
The purpose for the Parents and Friends Association is a friend-raiser and fund-raiser for the sole benefit of the children. Communication about the various activities and events at the school are shared via email and Facebook (you can like our page here so you don’t miss anything).
Your first point of contact in your classroom will be your parent representative. They are the link between parents, teachers and the Parents and Friends Association. Please ask your classroom director for information concerning your respective parent representative if you have not already been introduced.
We encourage you to share your gift of time or talent with the Montessori community in a way that best suits you. Opportunities are available during school time and after school hours:
- Making classroom resources
- Baking a cake for a Parents and Friends morning tea
- Attending Parents and Friends events
- Volunteering or contributing to an event
- Assisting the Class Director with reading, gardening etc.
- Contributing in any other way you feel comfortable
All events are shown on the school’s calendar of events which you can find on the school website. We encourage and appreciate your comments, ideas, suggestions and offers of help.
