Naomi Whitehead
Upper Primary Coordinator, Community Liaison, and Amanzi Class Director
Naomi has been a member of the Brisbane Montessori Community since 2010, when she first came to the school as a practicum student completing her Bachelor of Education. She has worked across many areas of the school; as an assistant, class director, student support, OSHC coordinator, NAPLAN coordinator and in policy writing. In 2020, Naomi briefly left BMS to support the development of a public school Montessori program in the Redlands and has now returned to her roles as an Upper Primary Class Director, Upper Primary Coordinator, and Community Liaison.
Within her 15 years of educational experience, both in Mainstream and Montessori, Naomi has acquired 2 Montessori diplomas through the North American Montessori Center and is currently enrolled in the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) 6-12 diploma. She has also been on a number of boards where the goal was to enhance the Montessori offerings to the community, and has held several workshops to support the growth of Montessori educators.
Naomi is a strong advocate for expanding Montessori educational offerings to the Australian community to increase the opportunities for all children to receive a holistic and adaptable educational experience that follows each individual child's learning style and needs. She also continuously aims for an educational experience where all humans are recognised for their individual differences and strengths, and who are working together to forge a stronger global community for a peaceful and sustainable future.
