Anzac Day 2026

Community Friday, 24 Apr 2026

Today, we hosted our ANZAC Day Recognition, bringing together students from lower primary through to secondary school.

Student speeches reflected thoughtfully on the history of the ANZACs, included a recitation of the Ode to Remembrance, and drew meaningful connections to Maria Montessori’s belief that education is the pathway to peace. We remember the many men and women who gave their lives in the hope of making ours better - protecting our freedom and safeguarding our peace.

With special guest Captain Stephen Halsall, Senior Military Psychology Officer from Joint Health Unit – South Queensland, joining us, we are reminded of the vital role individuals play in serving and protecting others. His presence invites us to reflect on how we, too, can be protectors of peace in our everyday lives.

How can we bring light to the darker corners of our world, both near and far? What small or significant actions can we take in our daily lives to show kindness, understanding, and courage? Whether it’s offering a kind word, choosing empathy, resolving conflict with respect, or simply looking out for someone who needs support, each action matters.

Peace is not only something defended in times of war; it is something we must build, nurture, and protect every day through the choices we make and the way we treat one another.

Each and every one of us has the power to shape the world around us in quiet, meaningful ways. Not always through grand or visible acts, but through the choices we make when no one is watching - choosing patience over frustration, understanding over judgment, and compassion over indifference. In doing so, we honour their sacrifice not only in remembrance, but in the way we live, every day.

May we all find the strength to embrace our role as ambassadors of peace today and always.

Lest We Forget.
