Bonjour and Beyond

Language learning deepens when students encounter it as part of real, lived experience. Through film, students can hear authentic voices, notice patterns in language, and make personal connections to culture, humour, and storytelling.

Today, our Middle School students continued their French learning journey beyond the classroom as they attended the French Film Festival to view The Great Arch, a true-story drama that invites reflection on creativity, ambition, and the story behind one of Paris’s most recognisable landmarks.

Experiences such as this encourage students to observe, interpret, and form their own understanding of the world. As they engage with the language in a new context, they build not only linguistic confidence but also empathy and global awareness.

To further enrich the experience, students shared in a simple French-inspired morning tea, engaging their senses and extending their cultural exploration.
