Our recent Queensland Montessori United Nations (QMUN) conference brought together Montessori students from across Queensland for a wonderful opportunity to explore global issues, consider perspectives beyond their own, and work collaboratively towards meaningful solutions.
Students represented different countries, researched significant global issues, developed position papers and resolutions, and presented their ideas to Committee Members. Along the way, they strengthened their skills in critical thinking, academic writing, public speaking, debate, negotiation and leadership.
Perhaps most importantly, they experienced Montessori education in action - being trusted with genuine responsibility, listening to others, finding common ground, and discovering what they are capable of.
Our Secondary and previous-MMUN students also stepped into leadership roles, facilitating and supporting different aspects of the conference and helping to create a truly collaborative experience for everyone involved.
A huge and heartfelt thank you to our incredible staff. An event of this scale is only possible because of the dedication, care and unwavering support that happens long before the day itself. Your countless hours of preparation, guidance and encouragement created the foundation that allowed this experience to flourish.
And a very special thank you to The Hyatt and YHA for providing the facilities that enabled us to bring Montessori students together from across Queensland. Without your support, this conference would not have been possible.
