Little Learners, Big Lessons: Fire Safety Comes to Life

Primary Wednesday, 15 July 2026

Brisbane Montessori School’s Lower Primary students recently participated in the engaging Fire Ed Program, delivered by the wonderful team from the Pullenvale Fire Station. The session provided students with valuable knowledge and practical strategies to help them stay safe around fire and build their confidence to respond appropriately in an emergency.

Through a range of interactive and collaborative learning experiences, students explored the difference between good fires and bad fires, learned about the dangers of smoke, and discovered the important role that firefighters and other emergency services play in keeping our community safe. They also practised when and how to call Triple Zero (000), ensuring they understand what to do if they ever need emergency assistance.

A key focus of the program was encouraging children to think ahead and develop safe habits. Students discussed the importance of having both a home and school fire escape plan, recognising safe exits and knowing how to respond calmly if a fire occurs.

The Fire Ed Program complements our commitment to providing authentic, real-world learning experiences that empower children with practical life skills.

We sincerely thank the firefighters from Pullenvale Fire Station for sharing their time, expertise and enthusiasm with our students, making this important learning experience both memorable and meaningful.
