Pouring, sweeping, preparing food, caring for the environment, dressing, washing, and so many of the everyday tasks we often take for granted.
In a Montessori Children’s House, these simple activities are anything but ordinary.
Practical Life materials create a beautiful bridge between home and the classroom, giving children the opportunity to practise tasks they have seen and experienced in everyday life - independently, purposefully and at their own pace.
Through these familiar activities, children are developing far more than practical skills. They are building concentration, coordination, confidence, independence and a growing sense of responsibility for themselves and their environment.
It is why Practical Life is so often described as the heart and soul of the Children’s House classroom.
