The Olympus Cafe

Our Middle School students have embarked on a remarkable journey, developing real-world skills through their training with Skills Training College, where they have become certified baristas ready to serve our school community.

The Olympus Cafe, a student-led initiative, is a powerful expression of Montessori adolescent pedagogy in action, where learning is rooted in real, purposeful work that connects students to their community.

From the earliest stages of imagining the café to designing, planning, and bringing it to life, students have been at the centre of the process. They have exercised genuine agency, making decisions, solving problems, and taking ownership of outcomes that extend far beyond the classroom.

This authentic work weaves together multiple domains of learning, including mathematics, financial literacy, design, communication, and collaboration, all within a meaningful and engaging context.

Most importantly, the experience supports key aspects of adolescent development. Students are building independence, developing a strong sense of responsibility, and discovering the value of their own contributions. Through this, they come to see themselves as capable, confident, and valued members of their community.

Opening exclusively to our school community very soon… we look forward to celebrating the energy, initiative, and potential of our thriving adolescents.
