Where Purpose Meets Plate

The Olympus Cafe is a student-led initiative and a wonderful expression of Montessori adolescent pedagogy in action.

Here, meaningful and purposeful work comes to life as students learn by doing, take responsibility, develop practical skills, and connect their work with the wider community.

Every Friday, our students prepare and serve delicious food fresh from the Middle School kitchen, while our qualified barista students put their coffee-making skills into practice, serving expertly prepared coffees to our school community. From taking orders and working together behind the scenes, to welcoming customers and keeping the cafe running smoothly, there’s so much happening beyond the plate!

We recently went behind the scenes to watch our students in action as they prepared one of the cafe’s firm favourites — quite possibly the yummiest quiche in Fig Tree Pocket!

From planning and preparation to serving their community, the Olympus Cafe is so much more than a place to grab a bite (and a coffee!) - it’s learning with purpose, served fresh each week.
