Emily Alexander

Emily Alexander is a legal professional and experienced governance leader, bringing deep expertise in regulatory compliance, policy development, stakeholder engagement, and community-centred decision-making. With qualifications in Law and Commerce, she offers a strong analytical and ethical foundation to her role on the Brisbane Montessori School Board.

First appointed in 2020, Emily returned to the Board as a Co-opted Director in 2025. She currently serves on the Montessori Excellence Sub-Committee, contributing to the school’s ongoing commitment to high-quality Montessori education. Her governance work has supported strategic and master planning, senior school consultation, and the cultivation of constructive and transparent board dialogue.

Emily’s professional background enables her to provide informed guidance on compliance, risk, and governance processes, while her strengths in policy analysis and community engagement support thoughtful and balanced decision-making. She has completed comprehensive governance training through Independent Schools Queensland, including governance roles and responsibilities, legal duties, financial oversight, board processes, and child protection.

A dedicated member of the Brisbane Montessori School community since 2019, Emily is also an active parent and volunteer. She and her husband, Hamish, have four children who have attended Montessori schools in Australia and the United States; two are currently enrolled at Brisbane Montessori School, and two have completed the Upper Primary program. Her ongoing involvement in school life reflects a genuine commitment to community connection and engagement.

Emily’s dedication to Montessori education is both professional and personal. Having seen its impact firsthand, she brings a thoughtful, community-focused perspective to governance, grounded in the belief that strong relationships, clear communication, and authentic engagement are key to nurturing curious, creative, and compassionate global citizens.

Emily remains committed to strengthening the foundations of Brisbane Montessori School as it continues to grow, while supporting the delivery of an excellent and authentic Montessori education for all families.
