Welcome to the World of Montessori |
|
The Montessori approach to education provides children with a purpose built community in which every child finds their
unique place and where developmental and educational needs are met. This approach to education is based
on scientific understandings of child development.
A Montessori education is
about preparing the development of the child for life and addresses the
whole child; emotional,
social, physical, spiritual and academic needs. This holistic approach
is essential as the future expectations of society are increasingly
difficult to define.
Designed to nurture in the child over time, the overall purpose of a Montessori education is to support our students to become:
Confident - to be able to put themselves forward when necessary, offering skills they have, or taking on responsibilities.
Caring - become aware of the needs of others, and have the
ability to use these needs with wisdom, kindness and empathy. This
caring extends beyond the immediate community and includes those who do
not share the same advantages, as well as those from other parts of the
world. It extends to cover life in all forms, nature and the Earth as a
whole.

 |
Conscientious - to be able to organise time and resources to best meet educational needs.
Courteous - to have consideration for others and be able to adjust their behaviour to show respect and manners appropriate to every situation.
Considerate - to think of others' needs as well as their own.
Competent - to be able to achieve the chosen tasks and complete them to a satisfactory level. The student will also be able to evaluate the success of the task against aims, processes and outcomes.
